Artificial Intelligence: History & Future

Abstract

This presentation will explore the history of Artificial Intelligence, will discuss its current state and will attempt to look into its future. The main themes to be discussed are:

A. A short history of the previous fifty-five years of AI and the nature of the field.

B. The Turing test as an indicator of the current state of the art.

C. Predictions for the next fifty years.

D. Autonomous intelligent machines or robots, immobots, and softbots: a bot by any other name.
